I LOVE nut butter! I have to confess that I eat it by the spoonful as a snack or to tide me over between meals. But it is quite expensive as I like to buy ones that only have natural ingredients. NO Palm Oil, no sugar, you get the picture. A couple of months ago I tried to make my own and I failed miserably ending up with a bowl of claggy ground almonds. I needed to research this. So, the internet was called in for back up!
And I can’t believe how easy it is, so I wanted to share it with you.
So here is the extensive ingredients list:
Nuts!
Yep, that’s it.
So, get your nuts, doesn’t matter which ones or how much. I’ve started buying a 500g bag of nuts so that I have enough to last me 2 weeks.
Preheat the oven to 180°C/360°F. Place the nuts onto a oven tray and spread thinly. Roast the nuts for about 10 minutes. Make sure that you turn the nuts, so that they don’t burn.
Remove from the oven and then allow to cool for 5 minutes.
Tough to follow so far, nope!
Okay, so get the blender out now and put the nuts in the blender and start it. The nuts will slowly become ground.
Don’t stop, keep blending, it will come together into a ball:
Once it forms the ball, we are nearly there. Just a couple more minutes of blending and the ball will turn in to a creamy butter substance, oh yes, it’s called a Nut Butter. Yummy!
Put the nut butter into sterilised jars. This will keep for ages provided you don't transfer your saliva if you eat it straight from the jar.
I can’t believe I never knew this, so I want to spread the word and the Nut Butter!
Here is a healthy snack recipe you can use the nut butter in: Stuffed Dates
