Replace your craving for crisps with these crunchy and spicy chickpeas!

These Spicy Oven Roasted Chickpeas are so quick to prepare and if you eat whilst hot, they will have a lovely crunch.

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

  1. 400g can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed

  2. 1 tsp spices of your choice:

  3. Paprika

  4. Piri-Piri seasoning

  5. Cayenne Pepper

  6. Sumac

  7. Sambal Oelek

  8. Or any spices you have in the cupboard!

  9. ¼ tsp sea salt, ground

  10. 1 tbsp olive oil

Method:

Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C Fan/400°F/Gas Mark 6. Put chickpeas into baking tray, add all other ingredients and mix together well. You can mix these together in a bowl, first, but I am trying to reduce the washing up! Place in the oven for 40-45 minutes, until the chickpeas are golden and crispy.

Tip:

  1. You can use any type of bean and any spice; the only limitation is your imagination.

  2. Serve on its own for a buffet or with a salad

  3. Have instead of crisps.

  4. Turn into houmous

  5. Store in an airtight container for 10 days, if they last that long!

High in plant based protein, gluten free, they contain manganese, folate, copper, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, zinc and many more beside!

Chickpeas increase satiety (fullness) and help with weight loss.
