Cranberry & Chia Seed Energy Balls

Here's a little something I like to make and keep in the fridge for when we fancy a snack.

I'm like having healthier options available at home, especially for those moments when everyone starts looking for something to nibble on! These cranberry and chia seed energy balls are perfect for that. They're naturally sweet, really easy to make and packed full of lovely ingredients.

I like to make the balls the same size, so I weigh them to  25g each, so they're just the right size to grab when you need something between meals. They're also great to pop in a lunchbox or take with you when you're out and about.

The combination of oats, nuts, chia seeds and dates makes them a satisfying little snack, while the cranberries add a lovely bit of sweetness.

Best of all, they take hardly any time to make. Just whizz everything together, roll into balls and pop them in the fridge. Simple!

Ingredients

  • 80g pitted dates

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tbsp tahini

  • 80g oats

  • 20g desiccated coconut

  • 80g mixed nuts

  • 35g dried cranberries

  • A pinch of sea salt

  • 3 tbsp water

Method

Add the dates, chia seeds, maple syrup and tahini to a blender and blitz until everything starts to come together.

Add the oats, desiccated coconut, mixed nuts, dried cranberries and sea salt.

Blitz again, gradually adding the water until the mixture starts to bind together. You want it to be

sticky enough to roll into balls without falling apart.

Weigh out 25g portions of the mixture and roll between the palms of your hands to form little balls.

Place in an airtight container and pop in the fridge until you're ready to enjoy them.

I think these are a lovely little snack to have ready in the fridge. They satisfy that sweet craving without having to reach for biscuits or chocolate every time.

I believe that when we nourish our bodies with more nutrient-dense foods, we're often more satisfied and less likely to keep reaching for snacks. Be warned though, these little balls are very moreish!

I've included estimated calorie figures for those who like to have that information, but personally, I don't believe in becoming too caught up in counting calories. For me, it's much more about the quality of the food we're eating, nourishing our bodies and learning to recognise when we're satisfied.

If you're interested in learning more about how food can support your health and wellbeing, I also run nutritional workshops throughout the year.

My next workshop is Gentle Gut Reset, taking place in January 2027. We'll be exploring how to support our gut health through simple, realistic changes to our everyday choices.
